Ali Dorfman - Founder and CEO

Ali spent close to 2 decades as a network TV producer, predominantly for CBS News. She has produced everything from breaking news to politics to entertainment to human interest and everything in between. Ali has worked side by side with some of the major network news anchors of our time and spent countless days on the road covering many of the groundbreaking news stories of the past 20 years.

After starting a family and moving from NYC to the suburbs, Ali dove into her entrepreneurial side and started a personalized gift business, a company that showcased women owned businesses, and consulted with various other start-ups. As the mom of two teenage girls, Ali is entering the thick of the college world, and she wants to help college-goers and their families navigate this overwhelming process. Ali is an “ideas machine” and brings her storytelling background to The College Corner.

Ali has a BA from The University of Maryland and a Law Degree from Brooklyn Law School. She lives in Westport, CT with her husband Peter, 2 girls Emme & Kylie, and 2 furry friends Bode & Ozzie. When she is not chauffeuring her kids to and from soccer practice she is running by the beach or skiing in Colorado.

Welcome to The College Corner - the first curated marketplace for all things COLLEGE! While there are thousands of businesses that cater to the college market, you cannot find them all in one place. Until now! The College Corner is the premier go-to destination for college-goers and their families to help make the college journey a little LESS daunting and A LOT more interesting!

Our platform consists of 3 main areas:

1 - Service Vendor Directory

This is a directory of college counselors, test prep tutors, mental health experts and more. Think of our directory as smart, vetted and applicable information, tools and products from experts, advisors and coaches who have sorted through the endless sea of information and can help students navigate this challenging (and exciting) time in their lives.

2 - The Corner Shop

We all know that college swag, gifts and dorm decor are a BIG business, but where do you find the best of the best? Our Corner Shop team has spent the past 6 months trying and testing the best products for you and your family! Whether you are looking for an acceptance gift, a graduation gift, or anything in between, we have a selection of products for every type of student from businesses both big and small. Instead of googling things like “commitment day gift,” we have done the work for you. Our Corner Shop offers exclusive deals and discounts to our college community. Best of all, our shop owners and college vendors will have a synergistic relationship, really showing how we cover every corner of the college experience!

3 - Lifestyle Corner

In addition to the application process and acceptance, there is also acclimating in college. Our lifestyle corner consists of bloggers and experts sharing travel guides, campus style, health and wellness, and everything in between. As we say, we cover every corner of the college experience.
